About IDFC

Dedicated diabetic foot and wound care is lacking in Pakistan leading to more than 100,000 amputation each year. International diabetic foot center (IDFC) is based in Islamabad, Pakistan. It is officially registered with Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)(Corporate Universal Identification No. 0136375) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Registration No 5565185. IDFC has clean and friendly environment, 4 patients’ rooms, operation theatre, indoor pharmacy, visitor and staff comfort rooms, surgeon office, and indoor and outdoor surveillance. IDFC has easy approachable location with ample parking. IDFC is fully equipped to handle all sort of diabetes related foot wounds and other wounds. IDFC has pleasant and friendly staff including receptionist, nursing assistant, cleaner and helper, pharmacist, and lab technician.

Dr Tauqeer Ahmed Malik, is owner and CEO of IDFC. He is consultant diabetic foot and wound care surgeon. He is MBBS (Pakistan), BSc (Pakistan), MRCS (RCSEd-UK), CCBST (UK-Ireland), PgDip WH & TR (Cardiff University-UK) and Certificate in Clinical diabetes BIDE (Pakistan). He has worked as an Associate Consultant Diabetic foot and Wound care surgeon at King Fahad Armed Forces Jeddah Saudi. He has been the visiting Wound care surgeon for the Royal Family of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He has played a major role in the research on Role of Human Amniotic Membrane in the Management of Acute and Chronic Wounds. This research was first of its kind in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. The results were presented, and were highly acknowledged both locally, regionally, and internationally, and that includes including Belgium, Austria, Norway, Japan, Denmark, Qatar, UAE, and KSA (Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Al Ahsa, Baha and Khamis Mushayat). Furthermore, HAMT is being continued at IDFC. He has 6 Scientific papers and Publications published in various international journals. He has conducted many wound care workshops, trainings, and in-service lectures on diabetic foot and wound care in various departments. He was invited as a speaker at various local, regional and international Diabetic foot and wound care conferences.

IDFC vision and mission in enhancing diabetic foot and wound care in Pakistan: IDFC has a vision “a nation without diabetes related amputations of lower extremities”. IDFC has mission “to be recognized as a center of excellence at local, national and regional levels improving the lives of millions of peoples living with diabetic foot, through education, innovation, research, and evidence based medical practice”. To achieve this IDFC has an aim to bring this center as a center of Excellence in Diabetic Foot, Wound Care, training and Research at local, national, and international levels. Thus reducing amputation, pressure injuries, and surgical site infections rates to minimum.

IDFC will be hosting CME accredited Diabetic foot and wound care workshops, seminars, and international conferences at regular intervals. In collaborations with local and national, both private and governmental health authorities IDFC will be extending diabetic foot and wound care services at various levels including. These services may include pressure injury prevention programs, diabetic foot prevention programs, training wound care champions, hands on workshops on products and techniques IDFC will be conducting new and innovative research with regards to diabetic foot and wound care that would include Human amniotic membrane, platelet rich plasma and new dressing material.
